RevRover vs Recon Brand & Clone Protection

Recon is a Shopify app from Bolle Apps that watches for cloned copies of your store and lookalike domains, and includes an email and domain security audit (SPF, DKIM, DMARC and domain renewal dates).

Last checked Recon official site: recon.bot

What Recon is great at

  • Clone detection: an optional theme block alerts you when your storefront loads on an unauthorized domain
  • Lookalike and typosquat domain monitoring, weekly on the free plan
  • Screenshots and evidence, plus prepared takedown and DMCA templates
  • Email checks (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) with fix steps
  • Domain health: certificate, blocklists and renewal

Who it's for

Shopify merchants worried about copycat stores who want monitoring and takedown help inside their Shopify admin.

Pricing

Recon lists a free plan ($0, no expiry) and a paid plan at $50/month or $480/year (recon.bot/pricing, October 13, 2026).

Where RevRover differs

  • RevRover works on any website from its address, with no install. Recon is a Shopify app.
  • Both care about impersonation and email spoofing. Recon focuses on clones and takedowns; RevRover's lookalike-domain check is still coming soon.
  • RevRover also covers site trust (security headers, test products), search and AI visibility, and e-commerce trust (sold-out and image-less products), which Recon doesn't list.

Check by check

RevRover's column shows what every scan checks today, and what's coming soon. For Recon, "Not listed" means the official pages we read didn't mention it, not that it's missing. Spotted something out of date? Tell us.
